I have been doing CrossFit for 18 months. I heard really good things about JAK from my colleagues seeing them return to the office absolutely shattered and covered in sweat. I had a lot trouble finding a fitness routine that I would enjoy and could stick to and JAK elite was the perfect fit. I enjoy the vibe at JAK.
I’m 64 years old. While I have always been fit and active, I’ve only been doing CrossFit at CrossFit JAK Elite for a little over 2 years. I love this type of training. It’s challenging both mentally and physically. Being 64 years old, I know the importance of keeping active, and especially the importance of applying weight-bearing
movements to my exercise regime. Weight-bearing exercises are essential for the more matured aged, as it keeps bone density levels high and increases longevity. ‘Use it, or lose it’ is my motto, and though I’ve had a full knee replacement, CrossFit training has allowed me to remain active, build my muscle mass and decrease my body fat percentage – three very essential ingredients needed as we age.
CrossFit JAK does not discriminate against age or ability. They have a very encouraging and inviting box. If movements/exercise need to be modified to suit certain abilities, then this is readily applied and encouraged. Abby and Karlo are extremely good at their craft. They continually encourage, motivate and congratulate all members.
I must admit, I was a little nervous about starting CrossFit originally. I thought that I may be ‘too old’ or ‘too weak’ to do most of the movements. My thinking was incorrect. I’ve been challenged mentally and physically with every component of CrossFit – cardio, gymnastics and strength. Wall balls, Skin the Cat, handstands and deadlifts are normal now.
I believe CrossFit has improved my quality of life as well as increasing my life expectancy. Combine this with great trainers and members having fun and being active together, and you’re on a winning combination!!!!
